1991
I was still at OLSH after Christmas and
This summer we went camping at the Dar State Forest we had our family picnics, plus camping in New York and Vermont.
I was still big onto GI joe, I loved Heavy Duty, Desert Scorpion, Slaughter Marauders, the Crimson Guard Immortal.
This summer my dad uncle Dave my cousin Jeremy and I went canoeing in Sturbridge my dad and uncle Dave canoed together my cousin Jeremy and I canoe in our own and there are these water snakes that were chasing us and I remember being all freaked out I don't remember catching any fish. This was at long pond and East Brimfield Lake there is a little tunnel you could go under route 20 and I've still gone fishing there as an adult and have a caught anything.
I think it was this summer that cousins up in New York in Altona took me into their back property and showed us where the glaciers had scraped soil from the land and there was a hole in the ground that was full of water and no one claimed to know how deep it was it might have had a bottom but they might have lied to me but I was always fascinated and I always wanted to go back to see if I could reach the bottom of that hole with a camera or some kind of rope with something on it so I could visually see
For some reason I wrote a note about GI Joe here, I probably should have growing up by now, but I'm going to turn 47 this year and I still love GI Joe and Transformers and toys. lol
I used to walk to school to avoid fights with this one kid Matt, we had issues for years and I wasn't in the mood to deal with it, thankfully the school was under 2 miles away, so it wasn't a trek.
During a random gym class, we had swimming, and this one classmate Ethier thought it would be funny to try to hold my head underwater. I didn't find that amusing at all, so when I burst above the water, I punched him in the face. I ended up fracturing or breaking something in my right hand, it bothered me for weeks after and was super swollen, but he never held my head underwater ever again. I never got it checked, doctors asked me about it after x-rays in 2013, but said it was clearly and older injury.
We also got to play chess and have tournaments in 8th grade, I thought this was a fantastic, I had played chess with my dad and my cousin Michael pretty regularly around this time, they were both better than me, so having this extra practice in school really helped me, and I got really good at stalemates. I won a cheap chess board during a tournament, I loved it even though it wasn't fancy, I had it for years.
During gym class outside, we were all running around like idiots and I found a piece of what I assume was slag, but I thought it was a meteor, it was super light weight and I decided to throw it as high as I could. I don't know how I was able to do all this without anyone noticing, but it launched into the air, but I lost sight of it in the sun, so I hollered out, "Look Out" and a fellow classmate looked up, raised his arm and the slag harmlessly bounced off this kids arm. I acted stupid and pretended I didn't have a clue where it came from, but thought it looked like a meteor, my classmates thought it actually fell from the sky. lol I'm lucky nobody got bopped upside the head with it. lol
Our gym class had this wall with pegs but they never let us CL, they also had this walkway that ran across the ceiling and I had always wanted to climb up there but I never had a chance. lol
I met Aimee Walsh here. She's the only person that I kept in touch with from this class, she also went to Putnam after Duggan.
I also let somebody punch me in the chest during shop class and it knocked the wind out of me. lol we were all doing it the kids were weird in school. It didn't really hurt but it did teach me what it was like to lose my breath.
I had a lot of fun there. I built my first CO2 car in metal fabrication class. it sucked and lost the race, but I got to take it home and I thought it was worth improving. it got tossed out at some point. I had tons of junk anyway. lol I really didn't need more.
